For our teenage son, he has his own YouTube channels to watch on his iPad. My daughter can watch her favorite TV shows from NetFlix again and again on her iPad or one of our laptops whenever she wants. They could not understand why people have to watch shows at a certain time via the cable box.
It's no surprise that services like Sling TV trying to win back the cord cutters with live channels, especially with ESPN channels. I do miss ESPN once in awhile but our family is not really a sports fan family. In the last two years, I wished to have ESPN exactly twice. Hard for me to justify the monthly cost for that... Back to Sling TV, one thing missing is the ability to watch whatever I want, whenever I want. Why would I be subjected to be told when to watch?
One last thing, we did switch our land line phone services to IP phone. We bought an Ooma device for $70 (on sale, regularly $149/device) and that was it. We are paying roughly $5/month for 911 service and taxes vs. close to $40 for land line with caller ID, call waiting, voicemail. So without cable and moving to IP phone, we are saving well over $1000/year. Not bad...
The parting world: I am glad that we are now a part of the cord cutting movement.
